Problem this solves
Markings can be partial or unclear. This guide helps you interpret size notation and lip type so you can quote accurately.
How to interpret markings
- 1Photograph both faces of the seal, including any stamps.
- 2Look for ID × OD × width notation (usually in mm).
- 3Identify lip type codes such as SC or TC.
- 4Note material hints if present (NBR, FKM/Viton, PTFE).
- 5Confirm direction of rotation if marked.
Common marking patterns (generic examples)
| Marking | Likely meaning | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| 25 47 7 TC | ID 25, OD 47, W 7, TC lip | Metric format |
| 30x52x7 SC | ID 30, OD 52, W 7, SC lip | Sometimes uses x |
| NBR / FKM | Material type | Confirm with media and temp |
| DIN 3760 | Profile standard reference | Helps verify lip type |
